On April 20, 2013, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.0 occurred in Lushan County, Ya'an, Sichuan Province. On April 22 and April 24, the Party branch of The Kingswell Hotel and the staff congress of The Kingswell Hotel successively issued calls and suggestions to all Communist Party members, activists asking to join the party and all employees of the hotel: "stretch out the hand of friendship and give a heart of great love - raise money for the people in Ya'an earthquake stricken areas, Sichuan". As of April 30, 20 Communist Party members, activists for joining the party and 114 hotel employees have participated in the fund-raising activities. The collected donations will be sent to Yangpu District Charity Federation and transmitted to the people in the disaster area.
